Plank on Ply
The Plank-on-Ply method uses 12mm CD Flooring Ply sheeting to form a sub-floor over the concrete substrate with the same tongue and groove floorboards as the Direct Fix method over laid on top. This system is normally used if the concrete substrate is of poor quality. and are generally more expensive than the Direct Fix method Advantages of a Plank-on-Ply installation are primarily an enhanced structural integrity with a softer feel underfoot. However, the flooring will have a thickness of between 22-25mm in height after installation and allowances must be made for timber reducers to meet with tiled and carpeted surfaces. Kitchen work-tops may need to be raised and existing doors may need to be altered to accommodate this type of flooring installation.
